A quick recap might be in order. As recounted in an earlier TorqueNews Walking Dead story , Shane, a deputy sheriff, decides he wants to split off from the ragtag group looking for life after the Zombie apocalypse that is the thrust of The Walking Dead. He comes across a Hyundai Tucson abandoned among scores of other vehicles and decides it will be perfect transportation, especially after it starts right up in spite of seating from what must be months. Even better, the stereo works just fine. Sure, all he can pick up are robotic Emergency Broadcast Service messages, but hes in luck if he can find some CDs lying around. Plus with all those other abandoned vehicles sitting around because the owners all are toast , hes not going to have to pay for gas. Now you can win that exact Hyundai Tucson from The Walking Dead by heading over to the shows website and click on the Walking Dead sweepstakes link. Pop in the relevant information and youre on your way to driving the crossover that outran the zombies and figured prominently in a lot of different scenes. Its an easy contest to enter. Just fill out your name, address, and email and youre on your way. Im a good boy. I follow the USPS system and actually know my complete zip code. No wonder the post office is going broke. Its important to keep in mind that you can only enter once a day. You cant go off the reservation and use a bunch of different email addresses. Any more than that and your entries are voided. Thats right. Youre entries are dead. The only thing that could be almost as good is winning a walk-on role on The Walking Dead. Hyundai Chief Marketing Officer Steve Shannon told me he was offered a role but hasnt been able to fit it into his schedule. For Gods sakes man, where are your priorities? Forget the family. Forget your career. Become a Zombie on The Walking Dead. It will give you something to talk about at parties for the rest of your life! Skip to main content. The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic comic book series created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore who was the artist on the first six issues and cover artist for the first twenty-four 1 with art on the remainder of the series by Charlie Adlard. Apart from a few specials, the comic was published primarily in black and white, but the comic began publishing colorized versions issue by issue, colored by Dave McCaig , starting in October It focuses on Rick Grimes , a Kentucky deputy who is shot in the line of duty and awakens from a coma in a zombie apocalypse that has resulted in a state-wide quarantine. After joining with some other survivors, he gradually takes on the role of leader of a community as it struggles to survive the zombie apocalypse. The television program loosely follows the storyline of the comic book. The original pitch by Kirkman and Moore was for a followup to George A. Romero s Night of the Living Dead , with the series taking place in the s. The revised pitch was again rejected, however, for being too normal. Kirkman then pitched it again with a new added twist that the plague was sent by aliens , and that the comic would be more of an alien invasion story. Kirkman had no intention of making the comic about aliens, but felt that the lie was necessary to get the comic published, which it did. The Walking Dead debuted in , published by Image Comics, with art by Tony Moore for the first six issues and Cliff Rathburn shading the art after issue 5. Charlie Adlard took over as artist on issue 7, after he was approached by Kirkman. The remainder were done by Adlard. Most issues of the comic featured Letter Hacks, several pages at the end where Kirkman discussed the issue, oftentimes answering letters, mail, and emails sent by readers of the comic. The first 52 issues of the series began to be reprinted on January 5, , with one issue per week for a year.
